One of the most pressing concerns for the environment today is the phenomenon known as global warming. Increased temperature over land can has lead to desertification of heavy areas. The most heavy impact of global temperature increases is on the polar ice caps. As a consequence of increase in temperature, the polar ice caps have just lately started melting. The ice rebounds back a major chunk of daylight into space. Without the ice, the whole daylight is sponged up by the earth, resulting in further increase of temperature.

An increased water level is the cause of submerging of several small islands. If global warming continues to increase at the present rate, the instant when even continents will submerge is not far.
